The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams has been ordered to pay Rs. 45 Lakhs as reimbursement to a devotee, by Salem’s consumer court, following a case filed by a devotee in the court, against the TTD. This case was filed after Hari Bhasker, from Salem, made a booking to be a part of the prestigious Melchat Vastram Seva, way back on June 27th, 2006. He even paid Rs. 12,250 to be a part of the seva, along with two others.
The devotee’s wish was finally accepted in 2020 when the temple authorities agreed for him to be a part of the seva. However, this was later canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. They instead offered Break Darshan to him. Hari Bhasker was deeply upset by this, following which he decided to file a case in the court.
The court has now directed the temple to either pay Rs. 45 Lakhs as damages to Hari, or let him be part of the seva, by giving him the Rs. 12,250 he paid for the seva, all within the span of two months.
