Telangana government is likely to follow the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) and cancel the SSC exams and postpone CBSE Class XII exams during unprecedented rise of second wave of Covid-19 in the State. On the flip side, SSC and intermediate examinations in Telangana are being planned to be conducted from May 17 to 28 and May 1 to 19 respectively.
Reportedly, the state education department is going to hold a meeting today that has the presence of high rank officials to find a suitable solution of the ongoing issue, about the future and possibilities of the board exams. Over five lakh students would appear for the SSC exams and about four lakh for Intermediate second-year exams.
While the CBSE decision has come as a good news to students and parents, those under state board remained in unpredictable situation about the SSC and Intermediate exams scheduled from May 1. Subsequently, some students with union support in the state had lodged an online petition seeking cancellation of the board examinations for showing bias.
The petition consisted 15,000 signatures, complaining that they are being coerced to prepare for exams without appropriate training and syllabus completion. The Telangana Parents’ Association and Hyderabad Schools Parents Association have insisted relief for the students and urged the state board to follow the CBSE decision.
