The followers of Shanti Devi, a woman leader of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party, created a sensation in the Begumbazar area. However, yesterday at around 8 pm on the eve of the Ugadi festival, she came with her followers and asked the shop owners to close their shops.
However, a plywood shop owner did not shut his shop. With this, the infuriated Shanti Devi’s followers severely injured the shop owner by beating him on the road. Scenes of the attack were recorded on a CCTV camera.
The shop owner, who was injured in the attack by Shanti Devi followers, lodged a complaint with the police that he was allegedly assaulted and provided police with a video of the attack recorded on a CCTV camera. Begumbazar police have registered a case and are investigating.
