As soon as unlock 5.0 guidelines were put in place and theaters were allowed to reopen, multiple Telugu biggies were gearing up for Sankranthi release. Films like Krack, Red, Most Eligible Bachelor, Rang De, Love Story, and a few others were slated for release next Sankranthi season.
However, Tollywood producers seem to have come to a conclusion that it would be too big of a gamble to release their films now as Covid-19 spread is very much a relevant issue. It is unclear if movie-goers will actually dare the Covid-19 pandemic and step out to watch movies.
Moreover, theatrical business and other logistics have been revamped and nothing is certain for now. With all this in mind, the makers of Red and Love Story have pushed their release dates. These films might release only in next summer.
The producers of Most Eligible Bachelor, and Nithiin’s Rang De are waiting for the desired offer from OTT platforms. They are keeping their options open for now.
As of now, Ravi Teja’s Krack is the only film which is firmly locked for Sankranthi release.
The theatrical run of Solo Brathuke So Better which will release on December 25th might give an understanding of theatrical revenues and other producers will take the final call on their projects accordingly.
