Three college students based out from Kondapalli hamlet in Jogulamba Gadwal district , Telangana received a negative covid-19 report despite not undergoing any tests.
The trio went to the government hospital in the district on February 2 and filled in the forms for getting a covid test. Since there were no test kits available in the hospital at that moment, hospital management told them to visit again on Wednesday.
After waiting for a long time, they left the hospital without giving their swab samples for any examination. These students were reportedly startled when they got a primary test report on their mobile phones.
The Rapid antigen test (RAT) report, mentioned as an interim test report, was sent to couple of these students at different times, who were 17 year old. Below the specimen type column, it was mentioned that a nasopharyngeal swab was received for screening.
For RAT, only nasopharyngeal samples are collected. Shruti Ojha, Gadwal district collector learnt about the incident and promptly responded, “We have initiated an enquiry to check if the reports were sent without a test being conducted. We will take stringent action against those responsible for it if it is true.”
A spokesman of the hospital said false reports could have been generated due to an error made by a data entry operator.
