Of the total 3178 children, 2373 were identified from Telangana while 805 from other states such as UP, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan and Jharkhand. The Hyderabad Police reunited 2188 kids with their parents who had been in despair and 990 were sent to rescue homes.
Apart from that as many as 388 children from Hyderabad have been rescued by Hyderabad Police under operation smile-VII conducted from January 1st to 31st.
As per the police notification release, Of the total 388, 344 are boys and 44 are girls. Wherein 28 boys and 27 girls were saved from bonded labour, kidnapping and various menial works at shops in this month. Among the 55 beggars, 13 boys and 12 girls were sent to rescue homes while others were conveyed to their homes.
The operation was initiated by 17 teams which were coordinated by anti human trafficking unit, city crime records bureau and other wings of police. The children were also traced out by the Darpan missing child tracing portal, a unique facial recognition tool developed by Telangana police.
A total of 61 cases were lodged against the employers. The rescue operation was conducted in Kachiguda, Begumpet, Kanchanbagh, Moghalpura, Malakpet and Langar Houz.
Swathi Lakra, additional director general of police, women safety congratulated all the teams who participated in the operation. All of them were felicitated by Telangana DGP.
