A team of central government officials expected to arrive in the city today, To deal with the Telangana State Government’s possible cases of coronavirus and its readiness for possible prevention of the disease. The team also includes an epidemiologist, an infectious disease specialist, and an officer of the National Center for Disease Control.
While in the city here, the central team will visit the designated treatment center for the disease – Gandhi Hospital – and meet with officials of the state health department Discussion of possible coronavirus cases and disease prevention treatment measures.
It may be recalled that the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harshvardhan had announced on Saturday that the center’s multi-disciplinary teams, which will oversee the screening of passengers arriving from China as well as Hong Kong at international airports in seven cities including Hyderabad.
Whereas a person who was earlier voluntarily examined at a government hospital in the city has undergone a negative test. Another man who went to China and returned to the city in December reported to the hospital for a check and admitted kept under surveillance. His blood and cheek swab samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune, to test for any possible infection from coronavirus.
Meanwhile, state government officials have become stricter over the surveillance of those returning to the city in the last few weeks since the outbreak of the disease in Wuhan, China. It learned that strict instructions have issued in the government ‘from above’ to keep a close watch on the information related to the number of people under trial and surveillance.
