Ravi Prakash Bodapati, the writer of super successful psychological entertainer ‘Mantra’, which was released in 2007 is making his debut as director for the film ‘The Story of a beautiful girl’. The trailer managed to raise interest among audiences. The film has been released today, and let’s see how it has turned out to be.
Story:
We are introduced to Drishika Chander’s character, who is a middle class, happy go lucky girl, who leads a simple life. She falls in love with Nihal Kodhaty’s character, and everything seems to be fine, until one day, when the girl suddenly goes missing. What happened to the girl, why did she go missing and what happens to her forms the rest of the story.
On-Screen Performances:
Drishika Chander is given the central stage in the movie, and the movie is a good stage for her to prove herself, given that it’s her debut film. She does a decent job with what she’s given, but a more seasoned actor could have done a much better job in her stead, especially when it came to scenes involving a lot of emotional depth.
Nihal Kodhaty doesn’t have a lot to do, but lends a decent supporting role beside Drishika. He is present in key moments, which makes him one of the key players of the story, and perhaps this is why it feels like he could have done a better job than what he has.
Devi Nagavalli of TV9 fame is seen in a guest role in the film and did an alright job for the role given. This is only known face to us in the movie.
The other supporting cast, which includes Madhusudan and others, do an okay job in their roles. Bhargav Poludasu an investigation officer did his role well despite of his irritable nature.
Off-Screen Talents:
The director has come up with an interesting story, which has a very good scope and enough elements to keep the audience engaged. While there are a lot of interesting moments throughout the movie, these moments are not stressed upon well enough, or these elements are not dealt with properly enough, which is the main drawback of the movie.
The screenplay offer the suspense but went pale when they are revealed. The movie starts on a good note and falls flat as the movie progresses. The end of the movie seems to be rushed and the revelations are done unconvincingly.
The cinematography of the film is OK and the background music could have been slightly better.
The production values are just OK and the editing is just okay.
Plus Points:
Minus Points:
Verdict: The Story of a Beautiful Girl had a lot of scope to work, but due to certain flaws, it doesn’t work quite as well. It is not a movie that needs a theatrical watching, and can be watched from the comfort of your homes, when it releases on OTT.
