Vijay Kiragandur, the producer of Salaar, has been actively engaging with Bollywood media to promote the film. He mentioned that the team selected December 22 based on astrological considerations. Regarding the film’s A (Adults Only) certification, Vijay explained they initially aimed for a U/A certificate to appeal to a wider family audience.
However, the censor board informed them about revised regulations, ultimately granting an A certificate due to the movie’s intense action scenes without any explicit content.
He elaborated that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested edits for a U/A rating, but director Neel resisted as toning down certain pivotal scenes would dilute the impact of portraying a character’s violent nature.
Comparing it to the recent success of another A-rated film, Animal, Vijay expressed that stakeholders were comfortable with the A certification, believing it could attract a broader audience base. Ultimately, the decision to retain the A rating was supported by the film’s team and distributors.
