Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy has been attracting scrutiny and criticism ever since he took his oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Dr. N. Tulasi Reddy, the Working President of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has asked Jagan Mohan Reddy to put forth his resignation, following the contempt of court petition filed in the High Court, by State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar was terminated from his post by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, when he refused to conduct the local body elections in March, owing to Coronavirus. The government of Andhra Pradesh then appointed a retired Tamil Nadu judge as the SEC in his stead. This did not go down well with Nimmagadda, who then filed a petition in the High Court.
The government of Andhra Pradesh tried to get a stay order from the Supreme Court, on the verdict given by the High Court, but the Supreme Court rejected the request thrice, thus resinstating Nimmagadda to his position.
The APCC has now taken examples of previous Chief Ministers like Nilam Sanjiva Reddy and Janardhana Reddy, who resigned as Chief Ministers, following the orders of the High Court against nationalisation of bus services and according permission for the dental colleges respectively. The APCC said that Jagan should take cue from these former Chief Ministers and resign.
