A single judge-bench of Madras high court imposing Rs 1 lakh fine on Tamil star hero Vijay had become a sensation a couple of weeks ago.
The single judge bench of Justice SM Subramaniam had criticised the actor and fined him when he appealed for the entry tax exemption on the import of a high-end car – a Rolls Royce Ghost.
Now, a two-judge bench of Justices M Duraiswamy and R Hemalatha has stayed the order passed by a single judge-bench, which was highly critical of the actor and allowed him to pay the entire tax amount.
Senior counsel Vijay Narayan, representing Vijay, said his client was ready to pay the entire tax amount but wanted the uncharitable remarks made by the single judge against the actor’s community at large to be cancelled. He asked to remove Justice Subramaniam’s harsh words against his client. The next hearing will be on August 31st.
