Terrible state of roads in Andhra Pradesh continues

The state of roads in Andhra Pradesh is terrible, with the roads half broken and in a haphazard manner everywhere. New roads haven’t been laid in the past two years after the YSRCP government came into power.

Despite the YSRCP government establishing a separate corporation to look after these works, no work has been done. The corporation has given out notifications for the laying of roads, but not a single organization has come forward to take the tenders, as they fear that the YSRCP government would not be able to pay their dues.

The corporation has been allowed to take 2,205 crore loans from banks to pay for the contractors who do the works, and yet no one is coming forward, as they are highly doubtful that they’ll get their dues back, due to the financial crisis that Andhra Pradesh is facing.

Of the 1,123 tenders that were recently called for, only 200 works have been taken up. Most of these works were taken up in Jagan’s home district of Kadapa, by those that are close to him, or by his relatives, knowing that he would pay them back fast and without fail. In other districts, no one is even thinking of coming forward.

The government is trying its best to convince everyone that it will clear the dues on time but looks like no one is really interested in believing that.
