THe united state of Andhra Pradesh was divided into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in 2014, and naturally, as a result, a lot of issues have crept up between the governments of the two states since. These issues haven’t been sorted out since then, and according to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation act, these issues are to be resolved within 10 years of bifurcation. For that purpose, the representatives of both the states are scheduled to meet up on the 23rd of November.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the chief secretaries of both the Telugu states to attend the meeting to be held in Delhi, with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla set to preside over the meeting and discuss and try to sort the pending issues since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. The previous meeting that was held between the two states on the 27th of September turned out to be inconclusive.
In the last meeting, as many as 14 pending issues were discussed, of which seven were related to the inter-state issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, while the remaining issues included financial assistance to the capital city of AP, grants for the development of backward regions, and other assurances given under the Reorganization Act. It is now to be seen what issues will be discussed in the new meeting.
