The Telangana government on Saturday slashed a 50 per cent in property tax to (domestic) house owners in Hyderabad and 140 other towns across the state as a financial aid on the ocassion of Diwali. In view of the financial troubles being faced by people amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this announcement came as a huge relief to the citizens.
“We decided to give some relief to people in the property tax (for the year 2020-21) in Hyderabad and towns across the state,” stated Municipal Administration and IT minister K T Rama Rao in the press meet. On Friday, he said that numerous ministers sought more assistance to be extended to individuals with regards to economic fall due to COVID-19 effect.
He said the relief has been put forth as per the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The minister further included that house owners who pay property tax up to Rs 15,000 within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits would be offered 50 per cent subsidy. In 140 other towns in Telangana, the house owners and landlords who remit property tax up to Rs 10,000 would get a 50 per cent subsidy too.
