Responding to a contempt petition, the Telangana High Court has directed the KCR government either to reply or face action.
The contempt petition was filed by the T-State Backward Classes Welfare Association represented by its President Jajula Srinias Goud, who urged the court to take action against the Panhayat Raj and BC Welfare departments as they violated of court orders.
The petitioner alleged that the officials had conducted the grampanchayat elections in violation of High Court orders asking them to enumerate the BC voter population and then provide reservations before issuing the notification for gram panchayat elections.
While dealing with the petition, Justice M S Ramachandra Rao, came down heavily on the government pleaders for not filing the counter affidavit even after three months. The Court directed the authorities to file the affidavit by the next hearing and also arned them that they don’t comply with their orders, will face consequences.
The judge also questioned the government pleaders’ argument that they were not aware of the court orders. They were reminded by the Judge of appearance of Additional Advocate General and another government pleader at a previous hearing of the same case. The court wondered how can the government make such a mistake.
Justice Ramachandra Rao stated that by making such false statements, the officials were attempted to sidetrack the court. He directed the officials to file a reply before June 14.
