The fact that a lot of villagers were ousted from their homes in Gouravelli, and that the police department carried out a lathi charge against peaceful protestors in the area, has been a deeply saddening piece of information to everyone in the state of Telangana. The fact that the Telangana government did nothing to get the situation under control was the icing on the cake.
With the Telangana government doing nothing to control the situation and being the reason for the police department to be in the area in the first place, some important members of the Telangana BJP went to meet with the state governor, Tamilisai Soundararajan today, at Raj Bhavan.
A delegation of BJP leaders, led by the state party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, met the governor to make a representation. They demanded that evacuees should be paid compensation under suitable Rehabilitation and Resettlement package by the state government, and demanded that everyone affected needs to be compensated equally. With the BJP now taking the matter to the governor, it is to be seen what will happen from here on, considering that the state government and the governor don’t see eye to eye.
