Tejaswi Surya is one among the 300 MPs who have been elected for the first time to the Lok Sabha. The former Head Boy bet Congress leader BK Hariprasad by 3.3 lakh votes in Bangalore South and ended up getting a whopping 62.2% of the votes.
Ananth Kumar of BJP contested from Bangalore South in the past and witnessed victory multiple times. But as he passed away recently and the constituency was considered as one of the high-profile seats in the country, BJP was not in a mood to take a chance there. So, the national party, thus considered Tejaswi Surya as the right candidate, as he was already popular for his hard-hitting speeches against Congress.
Tejaswi’s father who worked in the excise department was transferred to Bangalore in the past. So the BJP candidate had to study Std. 3-6 at St. Paul’s school in Belagavi from 2000 to 2003.
During his schooling, Tejaswi was identified by Indian Express, for donating his paintings and raising money for Kargil victims. He also used to send his paintings to Helpage India. Along with studies, Tejaswi also pursued music at Shantala Natyalaya.
He is one among the intellectual circles of BJP and is also part of the national social media team of the party. Tejaswi couldn’t hide his emotion and excitement, after he was awarded an MP ticket from BJP.
Recollecting his past, He said, “my symbol was lion, when I stood for Head Boy, now I got opportunity to work under Lion.”
