Tension prevailed in the Kuppam Assembly Constituency of Chittoor district in the wake of the former chief minister and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu’s visit.
Gathering in huge numbers, the YSRCP activists organized a demonstration in the town. They went to the bus stand in Kuppam and destroyed Anna canteen, which was to be opened by Chandrababu.
YSRCP activists also removed the publicity material, which led to a clash between the two groups. Later, when they tried to rush into the TDP office near the bus stand, the police stopped them. The ruling party leaders attacked several TDP activists at the statue of the NTR.
On the other hand, in the wake of Chandrababu Naidu’s visit, a large number of TDP activists also reached the Kuppam. As the situation between the two parties got out of hand, heavy security was arranged in the town.
