The Telugu Desam Party needs to group together, now more than ever, but the groupism that exists within the party is plaguing the party the most right now. Groupism in the party is getting worse by the day, evidenced by the worsening situations in the Kurnool district. The Kurnool district was once one of the strongest pillars for the party but is now crumbling.
Members of the TDP in the district are working against each other, trying to outsmart the other person. The situation in Aluru and Yemmiganur is especially alarming, given that the leaders there are functioning in separate offices. In Yemmiganur, the party appointed BV Jayanageswar Reddy as the constituency in charge, but former union minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy has set up his own office and is conducting his own activities from this office. Kotla ignored the requests from district president Somisetti for not setting up a separate office.
On the other hand, Jayanageswara Reddy directed his supporters not to attend the inauguration of Kotla’s office. In Aluru, where constituency former in charge Veerabhadra Goud opened a separate office. This was deeply resented by the TDP constituency in charge Kotla Sujatha. Goud’s office does not have the party flag, and while Goud claimed that this was his personal office and not a party office, no one believed him.
