The Andhra Pradesh government announced yesterday that it would stop publishing GOs, and would be taking any actions hereon, in private. The practice of making GOs public has been followed since 2008 so that every decision that the government takes is transparent to the people of the state.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his swearing-in ceremony, promised to the people of AP that he would make sure that every decision that his government takes is made public and that he intends to make his governance as transparent as possible. This is why the latest announcement from the AP government is causing a lot of controversies, given its contradictory tone to the CM’s promise.
TDP leader Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao has now attacked the YSRCP on the issue, saying that the government intends to keep the public blind to whatever they are doing, which is not right for the people of the state, as they could easily be misled. With so many controversies surrounding this decision, it is now to be seen what will happen.
