Thousands of Afghan residents flocked to Kabul airport yesterday to leave the country, fearing the dark days that come with the Taliban regime.
As the airport gates closed due to the increased congestion, the people jumped over the iron fences to enter the airport to board standing flights. The videos from the airport have already gone viral on the internet, and the issue has caught international attention.
The military plane called the Boeing C-17 Globemaster took off from the Kabul Airport, jampacked with around 640 people sitting shoulder to shoulder. The people abandoned everything and fled to other countries to escape from the Taliban.
The official media company ‘Defense One’ posted photos of the plane on their Twitter account. As per reports, the maximum passenger capacity of the aeroplane is 134 people in a palletized arrangement with 80 travellers on eight pallets, plus 54 seated at the sidewall.
But after witnessing the chaos at the airport, the pilots of the plane decided to go with as many as passengers fit in the plane. The flight that airlifted the 640 people landed at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
