Cashing in on the vaccum at the box office,a small titled, Tantiram has hit the screens today along with a half a dozen films. Let’s see how it fares.

Story:

Set in mid-70s backdrop in a town named Sivakasi, the film revolves around a man named Balu (Srikanth Gurram) who owns a firecrackers company. In the process of developing his market, Balu connects with a mysterious Zini. To fullfill his dreams, Zini asks Balu to bring his wife to him. Trusting Zini, Balu takes his wife( role played by Priyanka Sharma) to him. Rest of story is how Balu and his wife will be trapped by Zini and what happens further, to know that you have to watch the film in the theatres near you.

On screen performances:

Srikanth Gurram is decent on the screen with his facial expressions. His screenpresence will bring depth to the proceedings to extend.

Heroine Priyanka Sharma is cute on screen and delivers a settled performance. Other artists are okay in their limited screen presence. The chemistry between the lead pair has been presented nicely as a wife and husband.

Off screen talents:

Cinematography by Sirugudi Vamsi Srinivas is good as he brought the period flavour to the screen superbly. Music composed by Ajay Arasada is decent. Especially, the climax situational sad song is good on screen.

Editing work by Sirugudi Vamsi Srinivas is not upto the mark as the film needs a racy narration. Production values by Cinema Bandi is okay. If not lavish, the efforts are visible on the screen and so is the case with VFX department as they did a fine job.

Coming to the directional skills of Muthyala Meher Deepak, his creative thinking of making the film in two parts is appreciatable but he would have focused on the first part portions which depth in them. His organic idea of making the film is good but diluted with the slow-paced narration. If he has executed the first part in a gripping manner with a tight screenplay the hype around the second part would have been even better.

What’s hot?

  • Only for the last ten minutes

What’s not?

  • Has no proper storyline
  • Slow paced screenplay
  • Everything looks tedious

Verdict:

In an overview, Tantiram( part one) deals with a fictional characters created by a gang of boys. To be frank, the first part of Tantiram has nothing but a slow-paced narration. Only the last ten minutes of the film will excite the audience and creates curiosity about the second part. In one word, Tantiram ( first part) to made to create hype for the latter part and has neither high moments in the proceedings nor proper storyline. If you are okay with slow and sleepy scene order, the film will offer some exciting elements during the last ten minutes.
