Exclusive: Mahanati makers risking with flop director

Vyjayanthi movies banner is known for its mega blockbusters like Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Indra etc. Ashwini Dutt has handled the production house and made some huge successful films in the past. Even his daughter Swapna Dutt followed his footsteps later and launched “Swapna Cinemas” banner, under which a notable film like Mahanati has been made recently and registered a massive success at the box office.

The young producer has earlier entered into the OTT platforms and made attempts like ‘Gangsters’, ‘Mana Mugguri Love Story’ through “Early Monsoon Tales”. But none of such attempts helped her bag a hit. Finally, she is now back again testing her luck on the online digital platforms.

Swapna Dutt has picked Chandra Siddharth as the director for her new attempt on OTT platform. The director is known for his sensible work in Aa Naluguru. But his later attempts like ‘Emo Gurram Eguravachhu’, ‘Andari Bandhuvaya’, ‘Aata Gadharaa Shiva’ were duds at the box office.

But Swapna is quite confident about the script and felt that Chandra Siddharth would do the right justice for it. As there would not be any promotional campaigns for the project, the lady producer is keen to go ahead with it. If at all Swapna succeeds in her attempt, then it may pave way for several other jobless directors to enter the OTT platforms, with the support of the passionate producers like Swapna Dutt.
