Megastar Chiranjeevi’s son-in-law Kalyaan Dhev’s second film, Super Machi under the direction of Puli Vasu has hit the screens today. Let’s analyze it.

Story:

Being a bar singer, Raju(Kalyaan Dhev) leads a happy life with his friends. Even after knowing Raju’s lifestyle and easy-go-luck attitude, a girl named Meenakshi( Rachita Ram) loves Raju and expects the same for him. Who is Meenakshi? What is her main intention behind loving Raju? How is the entire setup interconnected with Meenakshi’s father(Rajendra Prasad)? Forms the rest of the story.

On-screen performances:

Compared to his first film, Kalyaan Dhev improved a lot in terms of acting. Be it his facial expressions or the dialogue delivery, Kalyaan Dhev tried to perform the given role quite confidently. While his screen presence as an irresponsible youth is decent, Kalyaan Dhev’s hairstyle and dressing look outdated.

Looks-wise, Kannada heroine Rachita Ram is okay and did her purposeful role in an impressive manner. Her acting in a few emotional family scenes is good and elevates the mood nicely. But the chemistry between Kalyaan Dhev and Rachita Ram is not showcased in a proper manner.

Senior artists such as Rajendra Prasad, Naresh and Pragati are decent in their respective key roles.

Off-screen talents:

Director Puli Vasu’s basic point is interesting but struggles to narrate the proceedings in an effective way. Though he presented the crucial flashback episodes with an emotional touch, the rest of the episodes are executed on a dull note. If Puli Vasu would have worked on presenting the film with a gripping screenplay, the result would have been even better.

Thaman’s music fails to register and none of the songs or the background score adds weight to the film. While Brahma Kadali’s Artwork is decent, editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is not up to the mark.

The cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is good as he presented the entire film on a rich note. Production values by the Rizwan Entertainments banner are apt for the film’s genre.

Positive Points:

  • A couple of emotional episodes

Negative Points:

  • Flat narration
  • Lacks a solid presentation

Verdict:

In an overview, Super Machi has an interesting point but is executed on a regular note with unengaging proceedings. Lack of depth in the proceedings and predictable scene order in the second half makes the film a boring watch during this festival season.
