Students stages protest at Sabitha Indra Reddy’s residence

Students of Osmania University and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad staged a protest in front of Education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy residence, demanding the postponement of engineering and degree examinations or conducting them online.

All the students, between 18 and 25 years old, appealed to postpone the exams as they have not been fully vaccinated. Students rallied from Satyasai Nigam to Sabita’s house.

The minister intervened and tried to settle the issue. She said that besides considering all aspects, exams are being conducted with the health of millions of students in mind. She ensured the exam centres will be set up as students desire.

It was clarified that a decision on the postponement of examinations could not be taken at present. Police arrested the students who held the protest against the exams.

Student unions, on the other hand, have barred students from taking engineering exams in the city. Students were stopped at the gate of TKR College in Meerpet and demanded that the examinations be postponed.
