It was a heartbreak for the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they got eliminated from the tournament by losing the Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals by 17 runs. The men-in-orange failed to chase a target of 189 despite good efforts from Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad. The failure of the top-order has affected Sunrisers Hyderabad. On the flip side, Shikhar Dhawan (78), Marcus Stoinis (38,3/26), Shimron Hetmyer (42*) and Kagiso Rabada (4/29) have played a key role in DC’s win.
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals chose to bat first. The team got a stunning start from the new opening pair Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan. They have started hitting right from the third over and didn’t lose the momentum at any point. The duo made a partnership of 86 runs for the first wicket. Then, Stoinis got out in the bowling of Rashid Khan. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan scored another half-century in this edition. He got good support from Shreyas Iyer and Shimron Hetmyer. By the end of 20 overs, they have managed to score 189/3.
Sunrisers Hyderabad got a bad start while chasing this total. Kagiso Rabada dismissed David Warner in the second over. Stoinis got the wickets of Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey in the fifth over. When they were in trouble, Kane Williamson and Jason Holder settled the scoreboard by making a partnership of 46 runs. Then, Holder got out while trying for a big shot. Later, Williamson scored his second consecutive half-century. Delhi needed Stoinis again to dismiss dangerous-looking Williamson. Rabada dismissed Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan and Shreevats Goswami in the 19th over. By the end of the innings, SRH scored 172/8 and lost the match.
