The winners of the 68th National Film Awards were announced today in New Delhi and Kollywood actor Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru has bagged five awards in major categories.
Based on events in the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G Gopinath, Soorarai Pottru won Best Actor – Suriya, Best Feature Film, Best Actress – Aparna Balamurali, Best Screenplay – Shalini Usha Nair and Sudha Kongara and Best Background Score – GV Prakash.
The Best Actor award for the year is to be shared by Suriya and Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn for their work in Soorarai Pottru and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, respectively.
Soorarai Pottru is directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Suriya, Jyothika and Guneet Monga. The movie, which was released on an OTT platform, received a lot of praise from people all over the country.
