Son of India Review: Outdated social drama

Son of India starring senior actor Mohan Babu in the lead role has hit the screens today. Let’s check how it is.

Story:

A printing press owner named Virupaksha( Mohan Babu) kidnaps a central minister, a state endowments minister and a cosmetic surgeon lady doctor and throws a challenge to National Investigation Agency (NIA). Who is Virupaksha? What is his motto behind kidnapping the reputed people in the society? Forms the rest of the story.

On-screen performances:

As most of the film runs on Mohan Babu, the senior actor gave a good performance in his role as a middle-aged man. His dialogue delivery and acting in a few emotional scenes in both the halves bring depth to the proceedings.

Other artists such as Naresh, heroine Pragya Jaiswal are okay in their cameo roles.

Off-screen talents:

Diamond Ratnababu is the director for Son of India. Writing-wise, Ratnababu did a decent job as his dialogues on a few social related issues works well. Coming to the director, he disappoints with his oudated presentation. Instead of focusing on Mohan Babu’s screen presence, he would have focused on writing an engaging screenplay for a better output.

Music by Ilayarajaa is okay. While the introduction song on Lord Venkateswara Swamy is good, his background music is apt for the proceedings.

Editing by Gautham Raju is fine as he kept the runtime in limits. The cinematography by Sarvesh Murari is not up to the mark.

Production values for his Manchu family production house are just okay.

Verdict:

In an overview, Son of India is the film that runs on the screen presence of Mohan Babu. Though a few scenes and dialogues related to society are passable on the screen, lack of gripping narration and ages-old treatment makes the film a disappointing watch.
