Siddharth summoned by Tamil Nadu Police

Kollywood star Siddharth’s controversial tweet on badminton player Saina Nehwal has received widespread criticism from politicians, actors and other celebrities. It is known that the actor has been booked by the Hyderabad police over his contentious tweet on the badminton star.

The latest update is that Siddharth has been summoned by the Greater Chennai Police over the objectionable tweet against Saina Nehwal.

Addressing reporters, Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal said, “We have received two complaints regarding (the tweet). A case had already been registered over one of the complaints in Hyderabad, the second complaint involves a defamation. We have already issued a summons. Since it is a pandemic period, we are thinking about how we can get his statement.”

Siddharth is booked under Indian Penal Code section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of women) and under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
