It is well known that due to the unavailability of the Covid vaccine, 18-45 year age group was restricted for a brief period of time for the vaccine drive. After the first dose was administered in many people above 45+ age, now in the interim, the Telangana government facilitated second dose of COVID-19 jab for 45+ age group from Tuesday across Telangana.
Information from an official release states that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has directed officials to begin the second vaccination programme from today.
“The CM has asked people who have taken the first dose of COVID vaccine and are eligible for the second one to get it done by visiting nearby government vaccination centre,” the release issued on Monday night stated.
On May 16, the government said it was deferring the second dose inoculation drive for persons above 45 years of age. It cited the issue being ‘scarcity of Covaxin vaccine’ and the required ‘time gap to be maintained’ after the first dose as suggested by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
