The issue regarding the alleged poaching of four TRS MLAs into the Bharatiya Janata Party is still going on strong. The issue is currently being dealt with by the Supreme Court of India. The SC today refused to prevent the CBI from probing the issue. The Telangana government had filed a petition requesting the SC to prevent the CBI from probing the case.
The SC also refused the Telangana government’s request to ask the CBI not to make any arrests in the case till the investigation was completed. Dushyant Dave, the lawyer arguing on behalf of the Telangana government, argued that there was no point in letting the CBI probe the case, as the CBI is directly under the Central government.
Dave said that the central government, led by the BJP, would have direct control over the case if the CBI was let to investigate the matter. The Supreme Court posted the next hearing of the case to February 27th.
