Satya Dev starrer, ‘Uma Maheshwara Ugra Rupasya’ was supposed to release directly on Netflix on July 15th, but was postponed in the last minute for technical reasons.
Cut to now, ‘UMUR’ has officially locked its digital release date. The Venkatesh Maha directorial will be releasing on Netflix on July 31st.
Netflix has already scheduled the release of the film.
‘UMUR’ is the Telugu remake of Malayalam film ‘Mahesinte Prathikaaram’. However, the director Venkatesh Maha made subtle changes to the script in order to keep the nativity factor intact. The film is set in Araku backdrop and marks the acting debut of numerous theatre artists.
No Telugu film which released directly on OTT platforms since the imposition of lockdown has garnered a unanimously positive response. ‘UMUR’ is carrying positive reports for now and it remains to be seen if the film can cater to all sections of audience and become the first Tollywood hit on digital streaming platforms.
‘UMUR’ is a rural drama with a simple storyline. Films like these usually enjoy a good patronage in OTT platforms.
