Family Star is the upcoming film of Vijay Deverakonda, directed by Parasuram. Their last film together was Geetha Govindam, which turned out to be a blockbuster success, and as such, the expectations on Family Star are also decent. The teaser of the film was released recently and has managed to get everyone talking about the film.
The film is being produced by Dil Raju, who is said to be facing problems with selling the digital rights of the film. The main reason for this is that neither Amazon Prime nor Netflix seem to be ready to buy the film, as they have already bought the rights to Venkatesh’s Saindhav and Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, respectively.
Given that both those films are in the Sankranthi race, neither of those streaming services are ready to buy another Sankranthi film because releasing so many films within a four weeks span would not turn out to be profitable for them. As such, the non-theatrical rights for Family Star, despite being headlined by Vijay Deverakonda, have become a problem for Dil Raju. In spite of this, the producer maintains that the film will be released for Sankranthi no matter what, even if the OTT rights are not sold by then.
