TSRTC, which serves as one of the lifelines for the city of Hyderabad and few villages connecting the cities in Telangana will be shut down for a while from October 5th. Joint Action Committee (JAC) came forward to strike against the Telangana government from October 5th as the state government ignored their strike notice.
Around 1 lakh employees will be participating in this strike and the demands revolve round the state government providing job security, increase of work force, buses and the payment of 1000 Crores dues.
It is known that YS Jagan recently signed the merger of APSRTC with TSRTC as per the promise he made during the elections. This raised concerns on the employment opportunities in TSRTC and the job security. Around 50,000 employees in TSRTC are contractor and the merger may destroy their chances of becoming permanent apart and eventually may end their contract as well.
With the increase in work load, most of the employees were forced to do double duties and the union demanded the government to raise the staff and the buses. Government has not cleared the dues of 1000 Crores and the organization is running in a loss of 3380 Crores.
All of these concerned took them to the next level of going for a strike against the Telangana government.
