The highly anticipated RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, has finally hit the theatres today. The Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer opened with a blockbuster response all over the world and it started smashing box office records barely hours after the release.
The latest update is that the big-budget action drama became the first-ever Indian film to make $3 million (approx Rs 22 crore) from the premiere shows in the USA.
The official Twitter handle of Raftar Creations wrote, “#RRRMovie USA Premiers Comscore Hourly Gross.$3,000,127 from 981 Locations at 7:45 PM PST. FIRST EVER INDIAN MOVIE TO HIT THE $3 MILLION DOLLAR MARK for Premiers (sic).”
RRR stands at #1 on Thursday at the North America box office while Batman is at #2 with $1.3M.
RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, respectively. Alia Bhatt, Samuthirakani, Ajay Devgn, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris are seen in pivotal roles.
