The YSRCP has tried several times to get YSRCP rebel MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju dismissed from being the MP of Narasapuram. Petitions have been submitted to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, twice on this issue, but to no effect.
A third time, on Friday, a representation from the YSRCP has filed another petition, requesting the same thing. However, RRR is very confident about not being dismissed from the Lok Sabha, given that none of his actions go against the law, which makes it impossible for him to be dismissed.
RRR is pretty confident that the anti-defection law under the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution is not applicable to him, as he hasn’t committed an act that warrants his disqualifying as an MP, under this law. According to this law, democratically elected people’s representatives can be disqualified only when they shift their allegiance from one party to another, while still in power, or if they disobey or vote against their party’s decisions. RRR has done neither of these, which makes it clear that he cannot be disqualified as an MP.
