SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR, which was released in Japan on October 21, has made history with its dream run in the country. The Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer has become the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan collecting JPY410+ and witnessing 271K+ footfalls in 55 days.
RRR has suppressed Rajinikanth’s Muthu record, which the veteran actor held for two decades. The makers of the film announced the same on their Twitter handle. Sharing a poster of Ram Charan and NTR, the team wrote, “Delighted to share that #RRRMovie is now the highest-grossing film with the highest footfall for an Indian film in Japan! Thank you for all the love you showered on our stars and director ever since the film’s release.”
On the other side, RRR grossed over Rs 1100 crore worldwide during its theatrical run. Set in the 1920s pre-independent era, RRR is based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
