The Telangana government had given strict orders to not let any vehicles or ambulances carrying coronavirus patients from Andhra Pradesh into Telangana. Tens of people suffered because of this until the Telangana High Court gave orders to allow coronavirus patients into the state, for treatment. Until today, the entry of anyone from AP to Telangana between 6 AM and 10 AM required no passes, and there was free movement as well.
However, since this morning, passes have been made compulsory for all those who want to enter Telangana from AP. The reason for this could be because of the high positive rate in AP, or anything else at all. With no prior intimation given to anyone about the passes, many passengers were stopped at the borders of Telangana this morning, with the Police department not letting them pass through, with the help of barricades.
Last year, the Andhra Pradesh government had a pass system, wherein, anyone from Telangana wishing to go to AP should produce a pass before they can be let into the state. This year, there’s no pass system for AP, and free movement into the state is allowed for everyone, between 6 AM and 12 PM, for anyone who wishes to enter the state. While passengers from AP suffered because there was no prior information about requiring a pass to enter Telangana, the AP government didn’t do anything to ease the situation. It is now to be seen if the AP government will respond to this.
