Ritesh Deshmukh refutes the death rumours of Director-actor Nishikant Kamat

Hindi/Marathi director Nishikanth is batting with life at 50 years due to liver complications and secondary infections in Hyderabad at AIG hospital.

Of late the hospital had put up in a statement, “Mr Nishikant Kamat (50 years, male) was admitted to AIG hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on 31st July with jaundice and abdominal distention. He has been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections.

Today morning Marathi director Jayawant Wadkar unknowingly shared through twitter that Nishikant passed away and his dead body is being sent to Mumbai. Many grieved about the news, but soon Ritesh deshmukh who worked in Marathi movie “Lai Bhaari” under his direction, refuted the death rumours and said he is still alive on life support via Twitter.

“He is sick but he has not passed away. He is in the ICU and he is critically ill,” AIG Hospital PRO Satyanarayana stated.

Nishikanth carved a niche for himself with his debut Marathi film ‘Dombivali Fast’, in 2005. The film scored biggest hits of the year and also bagged a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2006.

The filmmaker stealed the spotlight when he directed the Hindi remake of Malayalam hit ‘Drishyam’, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu in 2015. He has his credits for few well known Bollywood films that include Force, Rocky Handsome and Madaari. He also forayed as an actor in Rocky Handsome, Julie 2, Bhavesh Joshi and Saatchya Aat Gharat (Marathi).
