The farmers of Punjab have been planning to carry out a rally in the National Capital of Delhi, to show their opposition to the 3 farm laws introduced by the Central Government of India. The Police department had given them permission to carry out these rallies, only if they promised to keep them peaceful.
The protestors marched into the Red Fort in the afternoon, which caused a lot of chaos, with the Delhi police having to resort to lathi-charge and tear gas to keep the farmers away from the Red Fort. One farmer died while protesting with the Police at ITO.
Thousands of farmers poured into Delhi, so many that the Policemen who were deployed to control the protest, in protest gears, were outnumbered by a lot. Speaking to the media, a farmer said that they came to Delhi, and went to the Red Fort to deliver a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has now been delivered to him by them.
Chaos was prevalent at the Red Fort for over 90 minutes, with the Police force asking the farmers to leave the premises peacefully, before lathi charge was ordered, to remove the farmers from the Red Fort premises.
Several areas of Delhi were closed for traffic, several metro stations were closed, and internet services for several areas surrounding the protests had also been stopped.
