Richie Gadi Pelli Movie Review: Hollow and poor

Richie Gadi Pelli featuring Naveen Neni, Bunny Vox, Praneeta Patnaik and Chandana in the lead roles has been released today. The film’s trailer was released by director Harish Shankar a few days ago. Let’s see how the film has turned out to be.

Story:

Richi Gadi Pelli is about a group of friends that reunite after several years for their friend Richie’s wedding. Everything looks fun and glossy in the beginning, but things begin to change on the night that these friends meet. Why does it change, how does it change and what will ultimately happen forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

There are not many familiar actors in the movie, with Naveen Neni being the only exception. Naveen does a decent job with what he’s given, but the rest of the cast is very forgettable.

Bunny Vox, Praneeta Patnaik and Chandana are also very much forgettable in their roles and deliver below par performances in the movie. The most interesting parts of the movie and the most emotional parts look incredibly pale because of their poor performances.

Off-Screen Talents:

The movie is directed by KS Hemraj, who is also the writer of the film. He has made his directorial debut with the film. He has most certainly come up with a good setup, and while it is nothing that is really now, it is nevertheless an engaging plotline. However, the director fails to execute his story properly and messes up a lot. The director could have done a much better job with the story that he has written, and could have extracted much better performances from the lead actors. The screenplay, dialogues and performances of the cast are not up to the mark, even though they manage to keep you interested here and there. While a few scenes are a bit entertaining, some scenes look like they’re straight out of a daily serial.

The production design of the film is also sub par, the music is just decent – it neither adds nor removes value from the film. The editing is very bad.

Some frames look good, due to the cinematography, but some frames look very poor and improperly lit, with a few camera angles looking really weird.

Plus Points:

  • Cinematography – to a certain extent
  • Core plot

Minus Points:

  • Poor screenplay
  • Bad direction
  • Disappointing performances

Verdict: Richie Gadi Pelli doesn’t have a lot to offer beyond a few entertaining parts here and there. It can safely be skipped in theatres if you don’t have a lot of time to spare.
