#ResignModi temporarily suspended by mistake, says Facebook

India is reporting around 3.8 lakh corona cases in a day. Currently, #ResignModi is trending on Facebook. But suddenly, the hashtag had been disabled by Facebook. Later, then restored it. But it led to criticism on Facebook.

A large number of netizens demanding Modi to resign. But the hashtag did not appear for a few hours on Facebook. In this context, Facebook released a statement. It read, “The hashtag has been suspended because some of the comments in those posts are against social norms.” This has led to criticism that Facebook has stopped it on the orders of the Union government.

The same allegations were made in some international news organizations. Against this backdrop, a Facebook spokesman responded. “We accidentally suspended that hashtag. Other than that, we have not received any orders from the Government of India. The hashtag was restored within hours,” the statement said.
