It is a known fact that Puri Jagannadh’s recent film, ‘Liger’ ended as a big flop and left the producers and distributors in losses. Amid this backdrop, a bunch of distributors have decided to protest before the office of the director’s office, seeking him to settle their losses.
Puri, who already promised to compensate for the losses, has now gotten irked with the attitude of a few distributors. He lashed out at the distributors for allegedly blackmailing him. He said that he didn’t have to return money to anyone, but he is still doing it for the sake of honouring those who suffered losses. The director further said that he won’t pay back those who were planning to stage protests against him.
“I am not bound to return the monies. Yet, I am doing it on humanitarian grounds. If you people do over-acting even after my promise, I will lose the will to return the money,” he said.
He further said that cinema is like gambling and it is like a game of cards. “Some hit the bull’s eye. Others flop. When a film becomes a hit, it becomes a headache to recover dues from buyers. It happened to me with ‘Pokiri’ and ‘iSmart Shankar’, among other hits. The buyers’ association didn’t help me out,” he revealed.
