Punjab Minister sacked, arrested over corruption charges

In an unprecedented move, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann sacked state Health Minister Vijay Singla from his cabinet on a corruption charge after strong evidence was found against him.

As per reports, the Health Minister demanding a one per cent commission on tenders. Soon after his termination, he was arrested by the anti-corruption branch of the Punjab police.

The Chief Minister took the action after he received a complaint against Vijay Singla just 10 days back. In a video message shared on social media, CM Bhagwant Mann said he sacked Dr Singla after learning the minister was allegedly demanding a 1% commission for tenders passed. The CM said that he had directed the police to register a case against the Health Minister, after which he was arrested.
