PM Modi highlights few key points to remember as vaccine drive begins

In a virtual speech while addressing about nation’s largest vaccine drive, Narendra Modi heaped praises to scientists and healthcare workers, who have been on the forefront to battle the pandemic situation.

“Amid the crisis and the atmosphere of despair, someone was transmitting hope by putting his life on the line to save us,” PM Modi exuded optimism. He highlighted few key points to remember by suggesting to follow safety protocol, including social distancing and wearing masks be continued as usual.

The trained volunteers will administer shots to 3 crore frontline workers in first phase. 3,006 sites across the nation have been dedicated for this purpose. Wherein 100 beneficiaries, each are likely to receive either of India’s two indigenous vaccines, Covaxin or Covishield.

PM advised not to make a mistake of taking just one dose and said every beneficiary is recommended to take two doses of the same vaccine, 28 days apart. Any side effects need to be reported on observing for 15 days. A check list for the same is being provided for every individual.

The Centre has released Rs 480 crore to states for the operational cost of the program. Aadhaar and the Co-WIN platform will be used extensively to figure out and assess beneficiaries. If all goes as planned, 30 crore people may be vaccinated against the virus by July end.

He assured, Indian vaccines are tried and tested methods and also certain to be victorious in the battle against covid-19.
