Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning participated via video conference in the Governor’s Conference on the New Education Policy (NEP) along with President Ram Nath Kovind and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal. He asserted that the government should not interfere in education policy, 2020. The virtual conference began at 10 AM, while the Prime Minister’s address began at 10:30 AM.
Our youth will now be able to pursue education according to their interests. This new NEP focuses more on learning abilities rather than a mere studying in a way that would boost critical thinking,” he said while speaking on the ‘Role of NEP in Transforming Higher Education’.
Ever since 1986, students were pressurised to pick subjects beyond their aptitude and they would realise it much later, and these issues have been resolved in the current NEP”, Modi said. By facilitating vocational exposure right from younger age, our youth will prep up for better things , he added.
PM Modi said active involvement of the youth in the global job market and employability in India will rise practical learning and the education policies such as defence and foreign policies.
“India has been ancient centre of learning, and the government is working to make it hub of knowledge economy in the 21st century. It is our collective responsibility that the policy is enforced in letter and spirit, PM addressed.
He further urged more teachers, parents and students to be well unified with education policy as it could be more relevant and wide ranging.
