Phishing attacks on Arogya Setu App are on the rise!

Cybercriminals are making many illegal advancements to take advantage of the conditions caused by the corona epidemic. India’s cyber security agency CERT-IN (The Computer Emergency Response Team of India) says some people are involved in phishing attacks on the health-care app introduced by the central government to curb corona.

Phishing attacks on Arogya Setup app increased drastically in the recent past owing to the increased internet users during this pandemic. The cyber miscreants have started to message users in a gullible way by masquerading like a HR, CEO or any other official of a company with a malicious intention to steal their personal data.

They randomly opted to send messages that includes ”your neighbours got infected with Covid-19, “find out who are they, check who have come in contact with you positively in tests, here are the instructions for self-isolation viz..and targeted users by creating a false impression that it’s released from a health care system, CERT-IN said.

Most of the websites of this kind, ask users for bank, credit card company or other personal financial information. CERT-IN claims that criminals are creating new phishing domains on names such as Relief Package, Safety Tips at Corona Time, Corona Testing Kit, Corona Vaccine and Donation at Corona Time.

Online scamsters have impersonated WHO too and it became tougher to identify the authenticity of the information. They are making fraudulent attempt to send phishing emails impersonating WHO and e-mails appear to be released from the WHO.
