Perni Nani: Tollywood wanted tickets to be sold by government

Ever since the Andhra Pradesh government announced that cinema tickets would have to be booked online, on the lines of IRCTC booking, the government has received a lot of backlashes, with people questioning why the government should be given the revenues of something that is owned by private parties. To clear these criticisms and to give the government’s version of the matter, Perni Nani, the Cinematography Minister of Andhra Pradesh, spoke to the media today.

Nani said that it was the representatives of Tollywood that wanted the AP government to open an online portal for the booking of tickets. He also siad that the government will be meeting with the representatives of Tollywood very soon to discuss further details of the matter. At the same time, he said that decision has been taken by the government to prevent the sale of tickets in black.

Nani also said that a committee has been created to come up with the details of the execution of the decision, after which the government will come to a conclusion. Nani has made two contracting statements at the same time, by saying that the government has, and has not taken a decision on the matter. On the other hand, Tollywood authorities have clarified that they will be meeting with the AP government on the 20th of this month.
