Not a single decision regarding the Chittoor district is usually taken, without the consultation and knowledge of minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, and especially decisions regarding Kuppam are directly taken by Peddireddy as he has taken the responsibility for that area. However, things seem to have changed, with CM Jagan now calling the shots.
For a while, it has been said that things are not well between the high command of YSRCP and Peddireddy and that the distance between them is growing. This is being attributed as the reason why Jagan took a decision regarding Kuppam, which Peddireddy is now protesting against.
The Rural Electric Cooperative Society Limited (RESCO) is an electric organisation that provides electricity to even the most rural places, including Kuppam. RESCO provides electricity to residential, agricultural and commercial units in Kuppam, and the government has decided to merge RESCO with the state electric board now. RESCO also solves any sort of electric problem in the area within a short span, and merging it with the state electric board is not the best idea.
TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu also opposed this idea and even wrote a letter to the CS, opposing it. He said that the people of Kuppam would face severe challenges if RESCO is merged with the state electricity board. With this, Peddireddy is said to have started telling the people that there wouldn’t be any merging and that he strongly opposes the government’s decision.
