Oppositions lash out at AP govt on tariff hike

The increased tariff rates on electricity, announced by the Andhra Pradesh government recently, weren’t met well with anyone, neither the people of the state nor the opposition parties of the state. Naturally, all the opposition parties have very vocally announced their anger towards the government for burdening the people of the state with such high rates.

As it is, the electricity supply in Andhra Pradesh isn’t up to the mark, with the people barely getting 12 hours of power every day. Now, to top it off, the tariff rates have been increased by such huge margins that it’s sure to burn a hole in the pockets of the consumers, especially the middle-class section. Taking objection to the increased tariff rates, the TDP even protested against the government’s decision, saying that the money is going to go right into the pockets of CM Jagan, who is taking back the money he’s giving people via his welfare schemes, through increased tariff rates.

Now, the Jana Sena, the Left parties, and even the BJP have openly stated their objection to the increased tariff rates. On the other hand, experts are saying that the TDP is trying to use the situation completely to their advantage, hoping it to come in handy for the 2024 elections. It is now to be seen whether they would succeed in it or not.
